Grow a Garden Pet Tier List (October 2026): Best Pets Ranked by Mutation Power

The Grow a Garden pet tier list I published in May is out of date. Beanstalk, Fall Market, the Fairy Event and now the Ghoul Garden have all added pets, and the numbers behind the older ones are much better documented than they were back then. So instead of bolting a few new names onto the old ranking, I rebuilt it from the mutation multipliers up. Last updated October 24, 2026.

If you’re in a hurry: Disco Bee, Space Squirrel, Lemon Lion and Dragonfly are the pets that move your crop value the most, and Kitsune plus Corrupted Kitsune are the ones traders fight over. Everything else depends on what you’re trying to do, which is why the quick-pick table comes first.

How I Ranked the Pets (and What This List Can’t Tell You)

Pets in Grow a Garden earn their place in one of three ways: they apply a pet mutation to your crops, they help your other pets (XP, hunger, hatch speed), or they’re valuable simply because other players want them. I ranked mainly on the first, because the size of the multiplier is the one thing I can check against the numbers on our mutations list.

Two honest limits. First, I don’t have cooldown numbers for every pet, so a pet with a huge multiplier that fires slowly can still lose to a smaller one that fires constantly. Second, trade demand moves faster than any article, so use this list for what a pet does and check the live numbers on the pet values page before you buy or sell one.

S-Tier Pets: The Ones That Reshape a Farm

Disco Bee is the pet I’d tell most people to chase. A 125x Disco mutation on a crop that’s already carrying weather mutations is where the big sale numbers come from, and it doesn’t need a rare event to trigger. Dragonfly belongs next to it for a different reason: Gold is a crop variant, not a normal mutation, so its 20x multiplies the entire bracket instead of adding to it.

The Kitsune pair is more of a long project. Kitsune and Corrupted Kitsune each apply their own Chakra mutations, and when a crop carries both they fuse into Harmonised Chakra (35x) and eventually Harmonised Foxfire Chakra (190x). Chain those and you reach Ascended Chakra at 230x, the highest pet-driven result on the list. That takes four pet-applied mutations, which is why these two stay so expensive to trade for.

Butterfly gets the most arguments, so here’s the catch spelled out. It can roll Rainbow, but only on a crop with five or more mutations, and it wipes those mutations when it does. Five mutations like Shocked, Celestial, Wet, Moonlit and Bloodlit already give 1 + 229 – 5 = 225x, which beats a bare 50x Rainbow. Run the numbers on your own crop before you let it fire.

New Pets Since May: Beanstalk, Fall Market, Fairy Event and Ghoul Garden

This is the part the old list was missing entirely. Several event pets arrived this year, and some of them are still not fully documented. I’ve marked what’s confirmed and what isn’t instead of guessing.

The Autumn Egg deserves a warning. Enfield looks exciting at 0.5%, but its ability gives every other pet a 15% chance to gain a level and otherwise costs it 3 levels. That’s roughly -2.4 levels per pet each time it fires. It’s a pet for chasing the Everfallen mutation on a spare plot, not something to park next to your best companions.

The Ghoul Garden Halloween update, which went live on October 17, added Grave Crab, Frankenstein’s Bear, Eyeball Monster, Skull Snail, Lantern Wisp, Gargoyle and Haunted Knight. Nobody has published their abilities or hatch odds yet, so I’m not going to rank them. Last year’s event got a second part with extra pets, and the Fairy Event and its Glimmering mutation were scheduled to end on October 17, so I’ll revise this table as soon as the numbers appear.

Phoenix used to sit in A-tier on this page, and I’ve moved it down because 25x is a modest multiplier next to the 50x to 77x pets above it. It’s still a good pet. It’s just not the one to spend your best egg slot on if you can hatch a Hydra or a Swan instead. Pterodactyl is the exception worth keeping, since the Windstruck and Twisted it applies are the ingredients for the 12x Tempestuous fusion.

C-Tier and D-Tier Pets: Fine Early, Weak Later

C-tier is where the older version of this list went wrong. Queen Bee was listed as S-tier, but the bee family (Bee, Honey Bee, Petal Bee, Queen Bee, Wasp and Tarantula Hawk) applies Pollinated, which is only 3x. It’s perfectly good in the early game and a poor use of space once you own anything from the tiers above. Bear Bee applies HoneyGlazed at 5x, Polar Bear and Sushi Bear apply Chilled (2x) and Frozen (10x), and Raiju applies Static at 8x. I previously described Raiju as a Shocked pet, which was wrong.

D-tier is the pets you start with: Cat, Chicken, Deer, Bunny and similar. They give small passives and are worth keeping only until you can hatch something better. Don’t spend pet levels on them.

Best Pet Combos for Mutation Farming (With the Real Math)

Pet mutations stack with weather mutations using one formula: variant x (1 + sum of environmental multipliers – number of environmental mutations). Here’s what that looks like with pets from this list.

That’s why Dragonfly and Disco Bee are such a common pairing: the first sets a big variant and the second adds a big environmental mutation, so they don’t overwrite each other. Best Support Pets: XP, Hunger and Hatch Speed

Support pets don’t change a crop’s price, but they decide how fast the rest of your lineup improves. Capybara stops active pets from losing hunger, which keeps their XP ticking. Barn Owl boosts XP gain for your active pets. For eggs, Bald Eagle and Blood Kiwi shorten hatch times, which matters when a four-hour egg like the Autumn Egg is sitting in a limited slot. You start with 3 egg slots and can expand to 13, so hatch speed adds up quickly.

Best Pets for Trading in Grow a Garden

Trading value follows scarcity more than raw power. Kitsune and Corrupted Kitsune are the pets players chase hardest, because owning both is the only route to the Harmonised chain. Golden Goose holds steady interest for its Fortune mutation, and Mimic Octopus keeps a premium because it borrows another pet’s effect. I’m deliberately not quoting prices here, since they swing after every update. How to Get the Best Pets in Grow a Garden

Most pets come from eggs, event rewards, shops or trades. Event eggs are the part that changes fastest. The Autumn Egg, for example, comes from Fall Activities or the every-30-minutes Acorn Chaos, and it can also be bought as a Premium Autumn Egg with Robux. Free Grow a Garden codes are worth redeeming on the way, since the boosts and eggs speed up everything else.

A practical order for most players: grab free event eggs first, hatch with a hatch-speed pet running, and save your Sheckles for pets in the 50x to 135x range instead of spreading them over C-tier pets you’ll replace.

Pet Mistakes That Waste Time and Sheckles

• Rerolling a good pet mutation. Pet mutations are permanent traits and they don’t stack: a new roll overwrites the old one. The standard Pet Mutation Machine needs an Age 50 pet, costs 500 million Sheckles and takes 60 minutes, so don’t roll on a pet you’re happy with.
• Letting Butterfly overwrite a great crop. It wipes the mutations it replaces, so check the math first.
• Parking Enfield beside your best pets. Its ability drains levels on average.
• Upgrading low-impact pets. Levelling a D-tier pet costs the same effort as a pet that actually pays you back.
• Trusting old tier lists. A pet’s role shifts with every update, which is why several rankings you’ll find online still describe the game as it was in the spring.

Final Verdict

If I could only hatch a handful of pets right now, I’d go for Disco Bee, Dragonfly and Space Squirrel for farming, then add Capybara to keep the rest levelling. For trading, the Kitsune pair is in a league of its own. The newest event pets are still a work in progress, and I’ll update the table above as soon as the Ghoul Garden abilities are confirmed.
