The free Grow a Garden calculator for crop value: pick a crop, enter its weight, stack mutations and see the exact Sheckle payout before you sell. A trade checker is built in.
Starter crops use the price-floor base value and base weight from the community wiki. Other crop? Choose Custom and type its base value and weight. Always compare against the number the sell stand shows in game.
How the Grow a Garden Calculator Works
Every crop in Grow a Garden sells for a base value at a reference weight. Three things then change the payout: how heavy the fruit grew, which growth variant it has, and which mutations landed on it. The calculator above applies them in the same order the community wiki documents.
Quick use: choose a crop (or Custom), enter the weight shown on the harvested fruit, pick Gold or Rainbow if it has one, tap each mutation it carries, then set your friend boost and quantity. The result updates instantly and shows the working underneath so you can check every step.
Why Weight Matters More Than Most Players Expect
Weight is squared, so a fruit twice the base weight is worth four times as much before any mutation. A crop lighter than its base weight just sells for base value; it never goes below the floor.
| Weight vs base weight | Weight multiplier |
|---|---|
| 1x (at base weight) | 1x |
| 1.5x | 2.25x |
| 2x | 4x |
| 3x | 9x |
| 5x | 25x |
That is why a huge Wet crop can beat a small Shocked one, and why leaving your best plants in the ground to grow before a storm is usually worth the wait.
How Mutations Stack in the Calculator
Environmental mutations are added, not multiplied. Each one contributes its multiplier minus one, the bracket is 1 plus that sum, and the growth variant (Gold or Rainbow) multiplies the whole bracket. A crop holds one variant only.
| Setup | Math | Total multiplier |
|---|---|---|
| Rainbow + Shocked | 50 × (1 + 100 − 1) | 5,000x |
| Rainbow + Shocked + Celestial | 50 × (1 + 220 − 2) | 10,950x |
| Gold + Wet + Chilled | 20 × (1 + 4 − 2) | 60x |
| Gold + Frozen (Wet and Chilled fused) | 20 × (1 + 10 − 1) | 200x |
Multiplying everything together would claim 600,000x for the Rainbow, Shocked and Celestial crop. The real figure is 10,950x. For every multiplier and how to get it, see the full Grow a Garden mutations list.
Worked Examples
| Crop | Setup | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Watermelon (2,708 base, 6.65 kg) | 13.3 kg, Gold, Wet + Shocked, no friend boost: 2,708 × 4 × 20 × 101 | 21,880,640 |
| Same Watermelon | Add a +50% friend boost | 32,820,960 |
| Pumpkin (3,069 base, 6.9 kg) | At base weight, Rainbow, Shocked + Celestial: 3,069 × 10,950 | 33,605,550 |
| Tomato (27 base, 0.44 kg) | 0.88 kg, Shocked only: 27 × 4 × 100 | 10,800 |
Mutations Worth Knowing Before You Sell
| Mutation | Multiplier | Trigger |
|---|---|---|
| Gold (variant) | 20x | About 1% growth chance, Dragonfly pet, Gold fertilizer |
| Rainbow (variant) | 50x | About 0.1% growth chance, Rainbow fertilizer |
| Sundried | 85x | Heatwave or solar flare |
| Aurora | 90x | Aurora borealis weather |
| Shocked | 100x | Thunderstorm lightning strike |
| Celestial | 120x | Meteor shower |
| Dawnbound | 150x | Sun God event |
| Cosmic / Abyssal | 240x | Celestial + Aurora / Voidtouched + Eclipsed |
Most of these come from weather events, so the best habit is to plant before the event and check the fruit tooltip before you hit sell. Pets add the rest, and the pets tier list shows which are worth building around.
Common Calculator Mistakes
Multiplying every mutation. Use the additive bracket above. Counting a fused mutation and its ingredients. Fusions replace their ingredients, so Frozen removes Wet and Chilled. Mixing up the variant. Gold and Rainbow cannot coexist. Using the wrong base weight. The squared term compares against the crop’s base weight, so a wrong base weight skews the result fast. Treating a calculated value as a trade price. The sell stand pays the formula; another player pays what the item is worth to them.
What This Calculator Can and Can’t Tell You
Base values, base weights and mutation multipliers shift with updates, and community sources do not always agree. A few figures are still disputed, for example Stormcharged at 180x versus 220x, and some sites model weight with a different exponent than the squared one used here. I have used the squared model because it matches the wiki formula, and the examples above reproduce the same totals the wiki-style stacking math gives. If a number looks off, trust the one in your game, and use the Extra mutation multiplier box for anything brand new.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I calculate crop value in Grow a Garden?
Multiply the crop’s base value by (weight ÷ base weight) squared, then by the growth variant (Gold 20x, Rainbow 50x), then by 1 plus the sum of each mutation’s multiplier minus one, then by 1 plus your friend boost and your quantity. The calculator on this page does all of that for you.
Do mutations multiply or add together?
They add inside a bracket: 1 + the sum of (multiplier − 1) for each environmental mutation. Only the Gold or Rainbow variant multiplies the bracket. A Rainbow crop with Shocked and Celestial is 10,950x, not 600,000x.
How does weight change a crop’s value?
The weight ratio is squared. Twice the base weight gives four times the value, three times gives nine times. Crops under base weight sell for the base value.
What is the best mutation in Grow a Garden?
Astral (365x) is the highest listed but needs an admin event. The best you can realistically build is Cosmic or Abyssal at 240x. For ordinary weather, Celestial (120x) is the rarest big hitter and Shocked (100x) is the most consistent.
Can a crop be Gold and Rainbow at the same time?
No. A crop holds one growth variant, so the calculator lets you pick only one.
Is the trade checker the same as the sell value?
No. The sell value is what the sell stand pays. The trade checker compares two offers using the values you enter and flags a trade as fair when your side is within 85%–115% of theirs.
