The best pet in Steal an Egg right now is the Spirit World Guardian, a Divine pet from the hidden fusion machine in the Enchanted Forest. Most guides list it as the top earner, but its exact income per second is not settled, and you will see anything from roughly $15B to $26B per second depending on the index.
That is the honest starting point for this Steal an Egg tier list. Every pet here is ranked by cash per second, because that is the only number that pays for pen slots, treadmill speed and trails. Rarity labels help you find a pet, but they do not decide whether it is worth a slot.
If you only want the short answer for making money: chase S tier Divine pets, keep a Royal Skywhale for the fusion, and swap out anything that earns less than the pet in your next hatch.

Why Income Per Second Beats Rarity in Steal an Egg
A rare label tells you where a pet came from. It does not tell you what it pays.
Cosmic pets show the problem clearly: Cosmic Dragon lands in A tier while Cosmic Gecko sits a full tier lower in B. Two pets with the same rarity can sit a hundred million per second apart, so always read the number on the pet, not the color.
Two more things move the figure on your actual pet:
- Pet size. A larger version of the same pet pays more per second, so two players hatching the same egg can end up with very different income.
- Mutations. Mutation multipliers stack on top of base income. Reported examples include Fracture at about 2.75x and Rainbow at about 3.5x, though exact multipliers can change with patches.
Everything in the tables below is base income at normal size. That is the only way to compare pets fairly.
S Tier: The Divine Pets Worth Building Around
S tier starts at 1B cash per second. One pet here can out-earn a whole early pen, so these are the endgame targets.
| Pet | Reported income | How you get it |
| Spirit World Guardian | About $15B–26B/s (sources conflict) | Hidden fusion machine in the Enchanted Forest, two players |
| Voidseer Pumpkin | About $12.5B–14B/s base | Halloween Dimension, Abandoned Manor egg pool |
| Cursed Monarch | $12.5B/s listed, unconfirmed | Co-op fuse altar upstairs in the Abandoned Manor |
| Skeletal Sabertooth | About $9B/s | Extinction Egg that rolls the Skeletal modifier (about 1%) |
| Pumpkin King | $8.5B/s listed, source unconfirmed | Linked to the Halloween Part 2 boss |
| Royal Skywhale | About $8B/s | Enchanted Forest, needs 50B+ speed |
| Mecha Scrambler | About $7.5B/s | Boss fight against Dr. Scramble |
| Bone Emperor | About $7.5B/s | Halloween Egg, about 0.5% hatch chance |
| Aetheron | About $6.9B/s | Secret Shrine fusion of ArchAngel and World Burner |
| Luminous Cthulhu | About $6.5B/s | Re-roll that lands the Luminous modifier (about 1%) |
| ArchAngel / World Burner | About $5B/s each | Angels and Demons biome, light and dark states |
| Ghost Fish | Roughly $1.5B/s reported, some say higher | Haunted Rod minigame in the Halloween Dimension |
Spirit World Guardian is the pet to plan around. The fusion needs two players, and each one contributes a Celestial Sunlion and a Royal Skywhale. That is why you should never sell a Royal Skywhale casually: it is half of the best pet in the game.

Voidseer Pumpkin is the one to watch. Its base figure looks lower than the top pet, but reported mutated specimens climb far beyond it, with one documented four-mutation version around $203B/s. Pet income here scales hard once mutations and size stack, so the label on the egg never tells the whole story.
Skeletal Sabertooth and Luminous Cthulhu are modifier outcomes rather than normal hatches. You do not farm them so much as get lucky on a re-roll, which is why we treat them as bonuses in a plan, not the plan itself. The Extinction Egg is where that Skeletal roll happens.
The Mecha Scrambler is the odd one out because you earn it by winning a fight instead of rolling an egg. Our Dr. Scramble’s Revenge guide covers that boss route.
Why Do Guides Disagree on the Best Pet’s Income?
Because three things get mixed together: base income, size-scaled income, and mutated income. Some indexes quote the base figure, some quote a specific player’s pet, and some are simply out of date after a new update lands.
Treat every number above as a reported figure, not developer-confirmed data. The developers have not published an official pet income table, and the community-edited pet data keeps moving. After you hatch or fuse a pet, check your own Pet Index to see what it actually pays.
A Tier: The Mid-Game Workhorses
A tier starts at 100M cash per second. This is where most players live for a long stretch, because a full pen of A tier pets covers biome runs and still pays for the next treadmill level.
Notable A tier pets include Ice Dragon, Phoenix, Lava Dragon, Mosasaurus, Stag, Mutant Shark, T-Rex, Wendigo and Gorilla King. Several modifier versions also land here, such as Skeletal and Luminous variants of ordinary sea and prehistoric pets.
If you are saving for a Divine hatch, A tier is what keeps your income moving while you wait. Do not hold a slot for sentiment: if a new hatch beats it, swap.
B and C Tier: Where Upgrades Start Paying for Themselves
B tier starts at 10M cash per second and includes Cerberus, Leviathan, Whale Shark, Orca, King Mammoth, Tiger, Ankylosaurus and Experiment #001. This is enough to keep upgrades moving once your starters fall behind.
C tier starts at 1M cash per second and includes Axolotl, Polar Bear, Yeti, Flaming Bull, Pterodactyl and Winged Lamb. These pets get you to your first speed gates, and they are replaced quickly once a B tier hatch lands.
One thing worth knowing: the Rift event pets earn more than their printed base figure because part of their income scales with size, so they can punch above their tier while the event runs.
D Tier: Starter Pets and What They Actually Pay
D tier is everything under 1M cash per second, and it is where a new account begins. Chicken pays 1 cash per second, Dog pays 2, Bird pays 8 and Burrowing Owl pays 35.
Those numbers look tiny, but they still matter on day one. Put a D tier pet in every free slot and replace them one at a time as better hatches arrive. An empty slot earns exactly nothing.
Which Pets Make the Most Money at Each Stage?
The best pet for money depends on where you are, because speed gates decide what you can even reach. Here is the practical order:
| Stage | What to aim for | Why |
| First hour | Fill every slot with D tier pets | Any pet beats an empty slot |
| Early game | C and B tier hatches from the early biomes | They fund treadmill and trail upgrades |
| Mid game | A tier pets, plus mutations on what you own | Mutation multipliers stack on existing pets |
| Late game | S tier Divine pets and fusions | One slot can out-earn a whole A tier pen |
Three habits will raise your income faster than any single lucky hatch:
- Compare the number, not the name. After every hatch, check the cash-per-second value against the pet it would replace.
- Use Equip Best. The game slots your highest earners automatically, which is more reliable than picking by hand.
- Carry the biggest egg you can. Larger eggs hatch into heavier pets, and heavier pets earn disproportionately more, so skipping a bigger egg for a safer small one usually costs more than it saves.
Spend in a sensible order too. Add pen slots when the gap between your best and worst pet is large, put money into speed when a better biome is the thing blocking you, and do not leave any slot empty.
Are Fusion Pets Worth It for Money?
Sometimes, and sometimes not. A fusion costs you the pets you put in, so the result has to earn more than what you gave up.

- Spirit World Guardian: worth it. It is the top earner in every index, even though the exact figure varies.
- Aetheron: worth it if you already hold both an ArchAngel and a World Burner. You trade two 5B pets for one 6.9B pet, which frees a slot and raises income.
- Cursed Monarch: be careful. Each of the two players places one Ghost Fish and one Voidseer Pumpkin, and both receive an egg. The Cursed Monarch‘s income is not confirmed, and if the listed base figure turns out to be right, it would earn less than the Voidseer Pumpkin you gave up.
Do not fuse purely for income until the numbers are confirmed. Our guide to Cursed Monarch walks through the recipe, and the Abandoned Manor guide covers the key and altar.
What Changed in the Latest Updates (and What Might Change Next)
The Halloween Dimension added a large batch of new pets, and Halloween Part 2 added the Pumpkin King boss, the Cursed Monarch fuse altar and more. Earlier, the Angels and Demons biome from Update 4 introduced the Divine fusion system that Aetheron comes from.

Any tier list written before these updates is missing pets at the top of the table. Treat these placements as provisional too: if the developers rebalance a pet, it can move a tier overnight, and new Divine pets keep pushing the ceiling higher.
One more thing that does not change: Steal an Egg has no redeemable codes. Any site promising a free Divine pet for a code is not offering something real.
Final Word: Build Around One Strong Divine Pet
Keep the plan simple. Fill your pen, climb tier by tier, and aim every spare resource at one Divine pet rather than spreading thin.
When a patch lands, recheck the numbers in your own Pet Index before you trade or fuse anything. For the complete roster with rarity and biome details, see our full pet list.
