The Steal an Egg Nitro mutation is a mutation consumable you buy in the Racing Shop for 475 Trophies. Each use carries a reported 10% chance to stamp Nitro on an unhatched egg, so the average cost lands near 4,750 Trophies per success. That is roughly two first-place race wins.
The income multiplier has not been officially published. The figure players report most often is about 2.75x, which would put Nitro level with Fractured and Scrambled. Below you’ll find the real cost math, how to apply it, how stacking likely works, and when the gamble is worth your Trophies.
What Is the Nitro Mutation in Steal an Egg?
Nitro is a pet mutation that arrived with Update 8, the same patch that added mounts and the new race event. It is not a separate event. It is one item in the Racing Shop, sitting next to the boosters and the Racing Bat.

Like every mutation in Steal an Egg, it attaches to an egg, and the pet that hatches keeps it. Mutation sits on top of base income and pet size, so the same stamp is worth far more on a heavy, high-rarity egg than on a throwaway one.

How Do You Get the Nitro Mutation?
You earn Trophies from the Racing Event, then spend them. There’s no code, no Robux shortcut for the mutation itself, and no way to skip the race loop.
- Join a race. A race portal opens every 30 minutes, and the server announcement tells you which biome it spawned in.
- Finish first. A first-place finish pays 1 Win and 2,500 Trophies.
- Open the Racing Shop and buy the Nitro mutation for 475 Trophies.
- Repeat until the roll lands.
The full race loop, the Win Pass and the rest of the shop are covered in the Racing Event guide, so I won’t repeat them here. The only part that matters for this page is the exchange rate: one first-place win funds about five Nitro attempts.

One thing to flag. The only Trophy payout confirmed across sources is first place. Whether second or third place pays Trophies is not clearly documented, so plan around winning, not placing.
How Many Trophies Does One Nitro Mutation Really Cost?
The shelf price of 475 is misleading, because you are buying a 10% roll, not a mutation. If each use is an independent 10% chance, the expected cost is 475 ÷ 0.10 = 4,750 Trophies per success.
That is an average. Here is what the odds look like in practice:
| Nitro attempts | Trophies spent | Chance of at least one success |
| 1 | 475 | 10% |
| 3 | 1,425 | 27% |
| 5 | 2,375 | 41% |
| 7 | 3,325 | 52% |
| 10 | 4,750 | 65% |
| 15 | 7,125 | 79% |
| 20 | 9,500 | 88% |
Read that table before you buy. Even after ten attempts, roughly one player in three still has nothing. Set a Trophy budget first, and treat anything beyond it as bad luck, not a reason to keep spending.
These odds assume independent rolls, which the shop doesn’t confirm. They are a planning estimate, not a guarantee.
How to Apply the Nitro Mutation to an Egg
Nitro’s own application prompt hasn’t been widely documented yet. Every other mutation consumable in the game works the same way, so the steps below are the reasonable expectation:

- Place the egg you want to mutate on the floor of your base. It must be unhatched.
- Equip the Nitro mutation from your hotbar.
- Stand next to the egg and hold the prompt to apply the mutation.
- Check the result. On a success the egg changes and the hatched pet carries Nitro. On a failure, the item is typically used up and the egg stays unchanged.
Because failed attempts can consume the item, never test on an egg you can’t afford to leave plain. And since a mutation can’t be added to a pet that has already hatched, finish all mutation work before the egg timer runs out.
What Does the Nitro Mutation Multiply Your Income By?
About 2.75x according to the figure players report most often. Treat that as unconfirmed. Some trackers still list Nitro’s multiplier as unknown, and the developers have never published an official mutation chart.
If 2.75x holds, Nitro matches the other event mutations:
| Mutation | Reported multiplier | How you get it |
| Silver | about 1.2x | Natural egg spawns |
| Bloom | about 1.25x | Sakura Incubator |
| Golden | about 2.5x | Natural egg spawns |
| Fractured | about 2.75x | Boss Shop consumable |
| Scrambled | about 2.75x | Experiment Shop consumable |
| Nitro | about 2.75x (unconfirmed) | Racing Shop consumable |
| Enchanted | about 2.5x to 3.2x (estimate) | Enchanted Essence |
| Rainbow | about 3.5x | Natural egg spawns |
Final earnings follow one formula: base income × mutation multiplier × size multiplier. A 2.75x mutation on a pet earning 100 per second at base gives roughly 275, and a heavy size roll multiplies that again. That is why egg choice matters more than the mutation itself.
Can You Stack Nitro With Fractured, Scrambled or Enchanted?
Not confirmed. Two things are known and one is not.
Known: players have stacked Fractured and Scrambled on the same egg, one after the other, so multiple mutations on one egg is possible in general.
Disputed: how stacking is calculated. One source says each mutation adds only its bonus above the 1x base, so Golden plus Rainbow works out to 5x, not 8.75x. Another claims a Fractured plus Scrambled pet lands around 7.5x, which would be closer to multiplying them. Both can’t be right.
If bonuses are additive, my own arithmetic for Nitro plus Fractured would be 1 + 1.75 + 1.75 = 4.5x. That is an illustration from a disputed rule, not a game value.
Unknown: whether Nitro can be applied to an egg that already carries another mutation. Until that’s tested, don’t spend your only Nitro on a rare egg that’s already mutated. Try a spare first.
Which Egg Should You Spend a Nitro Roll On?
Pick the biggest base to multiply. The mutation and the weight roll separately, so a heavy egg from a high-rarity pet gives 2.75x the most to work with.

- Choose a pet you’d keep. A mutation on a pet you plan to sell is wasted Trophies.
- Prefer heavy eggs. Size compounds with the mutation.
- Decide before you farm. A fixed target keeps the whole race grind pointed at one payoff.
- Mutate before you commit a Star. Turning a pet into a mount is permanent and uses up a Star. If you want the mutated pet to also be a pet you can ride, finish the egg first and make the mount second.
Mounts are cosmetic for now, so the mutation is the part that actually moves income.
Nitro vs Fractured vs Scrambled vs Enchanted: Which Is the Cheapest Mutation?
Compare them by expected cost per success, not shelf price.
| Mutation | Price per item | Chance | Expected cost per success |
| Nitro | 475 Trophies | 10% | about 4,750 Trophies |
| Fractured | 400 Boss Tokens | 10% | about 4,000 Boss Tokens |
| Scrambled | 475 Samples | 10% | about 4,750 Samples |
| Enchanted | 396 butterflies (one Essence) | 100% | 396 butterflies, once |
The currencies differ, so the totals aren’t directly comparable. What matters is where each one comes from. Fractured needs the Rift event Boss Tokens, Scrambled needs Samples from Dr. Scramble, and the Enchanted Mutation needs 50B Speed and a long butterfly grind but removes the gamble completely.
Nitro is the most accessible of the four. There is no minimum Speed requirement to join a race, so a newer player can earn Nitro Trophies long before they can touch the Enchanted Forest.
Is the Nitro Mutation Worth It?
It depends on how you get your Trophies and how much you need them elsewhere.
Worth it if you already race for fun, you have a heavy egg you plan to keep, and you can afford the 4,750 Trophy average without skipping the permanent Racing Bat.
Skip it if you’d be spending your first few wins on a roll with no confirmed multiplier, or if you only have enough Trophies for two or three attempts. A 27% chance of success at three attempts is a thin return.
My practical rule: buy the Racing Bat first because it’s permanent, then spend what’s left on Nitro with a fixed attempt cap. Boosters are the last priority.
How Long Will the Nitro Mutation Be Available?
The Racing Shop is reported to be tied to the event window, and the shop timer was reported at roughly seven days when it was first captured. The exact closing date hasn’t been confirmed.
A Halloween Dimension expansion is announced for next week, so the lineup could rotate. Check the in-game timer, and keep an eye on the Steal an Egg updates log for changes. If you want a Nitro roll, don’t leave it to the last hour.
Mistakes to Avoid With the Nitro Mutation
- Buying one and expecting a result. One attempt is a 10% shot.
- Spending on a throwaway egg. The mutation can’t be moved after hatching.
- Mutating after a Star. Finish the egg work before you make a mount.
- Chasing the 2.75x number as fact. It’s reported, not official.
- Ignoring the Trophy budget. Decide your cap before the first purchase.
